The triage tech sprout pattern
I see this interesting pattern in technology: first you have the popular one, then the nice one, then the good one.
Or the Working, then the Nice, then the Right.
Take OS: Microsoft, Apple, Linux. Even though you most often know about Microsoft Windows or Apple OS because they are also marketing engines, you seldom "see" the Linux (*NIX-based) world, but it runs most of the computing stack in the world nevertheless.
I see the same in, for example, crypto: Bitcoin, then Ethereum, then the third wave like Cardano, Algorand, and others.
At least to me, Cardano is much like my Linux; it works and does all right, and the turtle wins the long run. And is not driven by a marketing/money/greed frenzy apparatus. To me that means the third waves are the real winners in the end when it comes to infrastructure and utility (which is what I'm talking about here).
Even though it's not a competition, everybody wins, and all can work together. Different tool sets for different work. I just hope everybody knows about all the tools so they can choose their own. 🫶
After I went full Linux, even on desktop, my life has become so much more meaningful; it feels like my toolbelt is helpful and never in the way and never asks anything from me, like money or time or annoyance.
Just a thought I wanted to share. Hade på badet, din gamle sjokolade. ☺️👋
